Trumpeter Nick Garbett will be the feature artist with the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Eric Dunan. The orchestra will premier newly commissioned music from Australian composer Jeremy Rose as well as a variety of big band and contemporary music.
Feature artist Nick Garbett is originally from Wollongong and a former student of the Conservatorium. In recent years, Garbett has been a finalist in the Freedman Fellowship (2017) and National Jazz Awards (2010). He also co-leads The Vampires and is a member of The Strides. As a session player, Nick has performed with Lisa Mitchell and The Beautiful Girls as well as the studio band for Australian Idol.
The award-winning Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Jazz Orchestra is the flagship ensemble of the highly regarded Jazz Program at the Conservatorium. The band has toured internationally and performed with notable Australian jazz artists including Sandy Evans, James Morrison, and James Greening.
