Scott Taggart - String Coordinator

Scott studied at the Sydney Conservatorium with Christopher Kimber, the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts with Alice Waten and undertook post-graduate studies on a full scholarship with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He worked in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonia Orchestra, English Classical Players, and the City of London Sinfonia. Returning to Australia in 2001, he worked with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and toured with visiting International Artists. He also took the opportunity to increase and further his chamber music career.

He has appeared as a soloist and concertmaster with the string ensemble “Steel City Strings”, as well as in concerto appearances with the Sydney Sinfonietta. His recital series’ with pianist Marilyn Meier and performances in the “Taggart Trio” alongside David Pereira (cello) and Phillip Shovk (piano) have been received with great critical acclaim. He is a founding member of the ensemble “Kammer”, comprising of string and woodwind performers which is resident ensemble at Wollongong University. He has toured with this ensemble for Musica Viva, and performed at Chamber Music Festivals across the country. Recordings and Live broadcasts for the ABC have also been a part of his work over the last few years, most recently on the Classic 100 Chamber Music Compilation. Scott has built a reputation as an outstanding teacher through the Wollongong Conservatorium, the Australian Institute of Music and through his own private teaching studio.p>
