Jeremy Rose

 

Jeremy Rose holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the Sydney Conservatorium. His diverse musical interests are reflected in the variety of bands that he leads and writes for. One of them, The Vampires, have recently released their first CD ‘South Coasting’ to critical acclaim, a unique blend of jazz and reggae. Other musical projects include The Jeremy Rose Quartet, afro-beat reggae group The Strides, a Norwegian/Australian collaboration in the group Chiba, as well as working with legendary jazz pianist Judy Bailey.

He has recently become a cofounding member of the saxophone quartet, Compass, and has an upcoming release featuring commissioned tango music with piano accordianist Marcello Maio and guitarist Julian Curwin from Monsieur Camembert. Jeremy has recently performed in Tokyo, London and Oslo. He has performed for ABC Classic FM’s Sunday Live program and was the 2008 recipient of the BBM scholarship to study in London. In August 2008 Jeremy attended the School for Improvisation in Brooklyn, New York. On 23rd April 2009 Jeremy was announced as the 2009 Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year.
