Jazz Combos

Small groups that focus on Jazz Improvisation. They are directed by different members of the Jazz Faculty and meet Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. These groups are NOT part of the Conservatorium ensemble program and are subject to additional fees.

Jazz Band

Wednesday 4.00-5.00

An entry-level jazz bandplayers with basic instrumental and ensemble skills. This band is an ideal opportunity for players to develop their jazz skils and will cover basic improvisation. From apporximately Unit 2 / AMEB grade 2 standard .

Jazz Ensemble

Wednesday 5.00-6.30

For more experienced players who have good ensemble skills. This ensemble will play more challenging jazz repertoire and extend the students' improvisational skills. From apporximately Unit 4 / AMEB grade 4 standard .

The Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Jazz Orchestra

Wednesday 7.00-9.00

For advanced high school, university, or mature age students who play sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums, or guitar and have a minimum of 4 years of experience. The band plays complex jazz literature explore more sophisticated musical concepts Entry is by audition or director’s advice only. The band is directed by Eric Dunan.
