The flagship orchestra of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music, the BlueScope Steel Youth Orchestra, is embarking on their annual tour in a celebration of National Youth Week.

This year the 5-day tour will see the orchestra travel to regional Victoria and southern NSW, before returning to performances in Wollongong and Sydney.

The orchestra is excited to be the first orchestra to perform in the newly opened Wollongong Town Hall, as part of the Town Hall Teaser Series, and will finish the tour with a performance on Fort Denison in the middle of Sydney Harbour.

Saturday April 9 will see the BlueScope Steel Youth Orchestra perform in Beechworth VIC in a celebration of Youth Week organised by the Indigo Shire Council, Yackandandah, before travelling to Corowa to play in the Corowa Memorial Hall for another Youth Week activity, arranged by Corowa Shire Council.

On Sunday April 10 the orchestra will perform at the CTC Centre, Holbrook, organised by the Aged Care Services at The Greater Hume Council.

Monday April 11 sees the return of the orchestra to the Wollongong Town Hall, an event the Conservatorium and the local community have been anxiously waiting for. This is a particularly significant event in the orchestra's 25th Anniversary Year. The orchestra will perform a free concert as part of the Town Hall Teasers series, between 12noon and 1pm. The orchestra members are particularly excited with the tour ending on Fort Denison, as they perform at an event for the board of the World Steel Association, hosted by the orchestra’s long-term sponsor BlueScope Steel.
