Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, with Chris Potter (USA), perform at IMB Theatre, IPAC. Jonathan Zwartz is one of Australia’s leading Jazz Musicians. He has played and recorded with many of the most outstanding Australian music artists and has organised many noteworthy events in the Australian Music scene. He recorded his debut CD in January of 2008 with Barney McAll, Hamish Stuart, Doug deVries, Phil Slater and Fabian Hevia entitled ‘The Sea’ which was released in November 2009 to critical acclaim, winning two prestigious ‘Bell’ Awards in 2010.

Marialy Pacheco represents the next generation of emerging Cuban musicians. Her music is a fine balance between Cuban tradition, jazz and her classical training. She brings the piano to life with an immense talent for highly nuanced improvisations. Marialy has released 5 independent albums and in 2011 was a finalist at Europa Fest International Jazz Competition in Bucharest, Romania.
Saturday October 27, 7pm Sirens Big Band IPAC Theatre, Wollongong

Sirens Big Band are a 17-piece all female ensemble whose music is at the interface of jazz and world music. With a focus on the new they weave lilting African, Middle Eastern and Latin rhythms together to create a unique sound. This will be Sirens Wollongong debut and the launch of their new album, developed whilst artists in residence at Bundanon. "This all-female jazz ensemble...can roar as one like an Ethiopian lion or fly like a bullet train, and yet also bristles with world-class soloists who are given free rein to blow and blow and blow." --Orange Press. Suported by the Wollongong Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra.
Friday November 9, 7pm Christina Fuchs 'No Tango' Quartet (Germany) Gleniffer Brae Auditorium

Christina Fuchs, saxophonist and composer, brings her ‘No Tango’ Quartet to Wollongong for the first time as part of a National tour promoting their self-titled debut release. Described as innovative, delicate, humorous and lyrical, the Quartet combines jazz, ethnic and modern compositions that will fascinate from the first note. “…strong, free grooves…although steadfastly energetic, it is still amusic full of lightness…It feels as there is no end to the stories theycan tell through the beauty of improvised music.” - Jazz Podium

Dave Panichi's career as a premier international trombonist has seen him work with jazz luminaries as diverse as Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich and Blood, Sweat and Tears. In a wide range of roles from session musician to lecturer, Dave has won audiences from Wangarratta to New York with his broad stylistic range, consummate musicianship and unique performing style. Alongside an all-star band including Phil Slater and James Muller this gig is a must-see!

Friday March 2, 7pm Andrew Dickeson Quintet

Hard Bop hits The Con Jazz Series with the Andrew Dickeson Quintet. Led by internationally renowned drummer Andrew Dickeson, this group features some of Australia’s premier jazz artists: Warwick Alder (trumpet), Dave Panichi (trombone), Brendan Clarke (double bass) and Steve Barry (piano). This performance will include music from Dickeson’s debut CD, Weaver of Dreams, which was recently released to rave reviews. An exciting, energetic performance is guaranteed.
