Resound Instrument Appeal

Wollongong Conservatorium of Music will be a collection point for Australia's musical instrument disaster relief program, Resound.  The program links pledges and donations of musical instruments with musicians of all ages and ability who have lost instruments in natural disasters such as floods and bushfires.

In 2009, the Victorian bushfires moved generous ABC Classic FM listeners of Emma Ayres program to offer donations of musical instruments to those bushfire survivors who had lost instruments. As a result, the Resound Bushfire Appeal was put together by the Music Council of Australia, in partnership with the Dandenong Ranges Music Council in Victoria. Over 250 good quality instruments went to musicians including student musicians, studio teachers, schools, recording artists etc in areas covered by 19 councils in Victoria, thanks to the generous help of the Resound volunteer delivery drivers. The program has now been reinstated after the recent natural disasters around Australia.

Anyone who has lost an instrument in any of the declared natural disasters (ie floods, cyclone Yasi, bush fires) between December 2010 and February 2011 is eligible to apply to receive a replacement musical instrument. Anyone wishing to donate an instrument can do so via the Resound website. Wollongong Conservatorium of Music will act as a collection point in the Illawarra for instrument donations.

Please contact Alex Masso at the Conservatorium for further information, or see the resound website.  Please do not bring instruments to the Conservatorium without first having a pledge matched via Resound.
